I replace
broken
structures.
I studied mechanical engineering at Virginia Tech. Early in my career I sold wireless sensor systems into steel mills, where a fuel management system I helped build saved TimkenSteel about $1M in its first year. That job taught me the pattern I still work from: find the operating gap, build the business case, prove it in the numbers.
Since 2016 I have run Impact Social, working with startups, technology companies and growth stage businesses on strategy, sales systems and market research. Since January 2026 the work has centered on structured advisory: diagnose the constraint, prioritize the opportunity, test the fix.
I also serve as President of the Film Council of Greater Columbus, which runs the Columbus International Film and Animation Festival, founded in 1952. The 2026 festival was the largest in roughly two decades.
Fifteen years, in order.
Three rules I work from.
Replace, do not reform.
If the structure is what is broken, polishing it buys a quarter. I rebuild the part that is limiting everything else.
Stop selling. Start listening.
Sales informs marketing. Real buyer conversations tell you what to say, who to say it to, and what to build next.
Give value before you ask.
Trust is built by being useful first. Every outreach, follow up and offer starts with something the buyer can use.
